About KAP

Keith “KAP” Phillip Jr is a young recording & mixing engineer based in Atlanta,GA who has a passion for taking a blank audio canvas and painting a sonic picture that can soothe the ears of many. He developed his audio skills by attending the Art Institute of Atlanta where would discover his love for all things audio by learning the basics of audio editing, recording, and mixing. KAP has worked in several recording studios all around Atlanta and it there while being a Intern at the 12 Studios in midtown Atlanta he was the personal engineer for the Multi Grammy Nominated Songwriters R.City where he was able to work alongside artist like Elle Varner, Christina Millian, Usher, Tinie Tempah, Curtis Fields, TLC, As well as heavy hitter producers Tha Bizness, DJ Mustard, Co-Captains, Maadd Scientist, Guitar Boy. After his time there he cultivated a working relationship with Producer Henny Tha Bizness and when he opened up his own studio “Space Studios” in 2016 where they put in long hours to make the studio into a home where “securing the vibe” was the main mantra they all lived by. During that time period they would work with many artist like “ Sammie, Jayla Darden, Levi Johnson, Josh & Angelica Bias, Blanco Brown, EM JAI”.

KAP started off as a musician where started playing piano at the age of 7 where he self taught himself to around the age of 12 where began to get private lessons to sharpen his skills which eventually led him to playing with his church youth band and youth services. He also picked up playing Alto Saxophone in his middle school band and continued playing all throughout High School and now adulthood. Now although KAP music passion was from being a musician we always wanted to know what was going on behind the scenes and it was in High school where he took a music technology program course at Grayson Technical School is when he knew audio engineering was something he wanted study and develop further. KAP would begin to record his friends and classmates and really started off as a producer but quickly realized that he enjoyed the mixing and crafting of sound was what he had a passion for most. KAP’s Mixing influences are mixing engineer’s Jaycen Joshua because of his hard hitting drums and present vocals as well as his effects approach to mixing. Serban Ghenea for his minimalist approach to ITB [In the Box] mixing. As well as Josh Gudwin for his smooth and present approach to Vocals.

Now a days you can find KAP as a freelance recording and Mixing engineer around the city of Atlanta where he gets a majority of his clients from word of mouth from other satisfied clients and other creatives that he has collaborated with. Currently he is working with several upcoming artist in the Atlanta Scene.

KAP’s Mixing set up is currently Kali Audio Lp6’s, Avantone Gauss 7’s Heritage Audio RAM System 2000 Monitor Controller, Antelope Audio Discrete 4, Apollo MK II Twin mixing thru Pro Tools 2019.
